Welcome to St Winefride's Well, Holywell

The exterior of St Winefride's Well shrine, Holywell, erected in the first decade of the sixteenth century.

The spring rises in the lower open crypt and flows out into the large exterior bathing pool.

Above the crypt is St Winefride's Chapel. Alongside the outer bath, on the left, a family can be seen filling bottles with water drawn from the spring basin within the crypt. On the right can be seen the Crusader type changing tents used by pilgrim bathers.

November 3rd is St Winefride’s liturgical feast, therefore is the Parish feast. In order to celebrate our dear saint there will be a special Mass at 6pm. At the end of the Mass we will pray the litanies in honour of St Winefride and then will venerate the relic.

Many thanks to all who helped out with the recent Family Fun Day and also to everyone who came along on the day to support our community.  With your help, a total of £1,574.76 was raised which is being split £126.70 to St Winefride’s Playgroup and £724.03 to both Church and the School.  We hope you all enjoyed the day.
