
Exterior of St Winefride's Well shrine, Holywell, erected in the first decade of the sixteenth century. The spring rises in the lower open crypt and flows out into the large exterior bathing pool. Above the crypt is St Winefride's Chapel.
Alongside the outer bath, on the left, a family can be seen filling bottles with water drawn from the spring basin within the crypt. On the right can be seen the Crusader type changing tents used by pilgrim bathers
