Information

Opening Times - The Shrine is open daily throughout the year, with the exception of Christmas Day. Opening times for the Holywell complex, the Interpretive Exhibition, and the Shop are as follows:

1 April - 30 September: Sunday -- Friday 09.00 - 17.30
  Saturday 09.00 - 17.00
   
1 October - 31 March: Sunday - Saturday 10.00 - 16.00

The Museum is open between 12.00 and 16.00, on Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays from 1 April until 30 September, or at all other times by prior appointment.

Admission Charges - Adult: £0.60 (over 60: £0.40); Child:£0.20; Family (2+3): £1.50; Student (with student card): £0.20 There are no additional charges to the Interpretive Exhibition or the Museum, or for use of the Audio-trail facilities. All proceeds from entry charges and the Shop go towards the upkeep of the Shrine.

Audio-Trail - Audio tour self-guide tapes are available in English, Welsh, French and German (35 minutes).

Daily Service - Following an unbroken tradition first established over 100 years ago, throughout the pilgrimage season (Pentecost to the last Sunday in September) there is a daily service at the Well (15 minutes), Monday - Saturday: 11.30; Sunday: 14.30 to which all Pilgrims and visitors are welcome. This includes the Litany and the Veneration of St Winefride's Relic.

Bathing - People have been bathing at St Winefride's Well for over 1,000 years. They still do. Pilgrims wishing to bathe are welcome to do so, at the following times, or by special arrangement with the Custodian:

1 April - 30 September: 09.00-10.00 and 16.00-17.00
1 October - 31 March: 10.00 - 11.00
and 15.00-15.30

St Winefride's Chapel - The Chapel is above the Well crypt, and is an integral element of the original 16th-century design. It is in the care of CADW (Welsh Historic Monuments). The key is available from the Well Custodian during normal opening hours. There is a returnable deposit of £5.00, but no additional charge for entry to this impressive chapel.

Pilgrimages - Organised pilgrimages large and small, to which all pilgrims and visitors are welcome are made to the Shrine throughout the year.

The Daily Well Service and pilgrimage Season for 2007 opens with the St Vincent De Paul Wrexham, Central Council Pilgrimage for the disabled on Pentecost (Whitsunday) 27 May 2007 (14.30)

The National Catholic Pilgrimage Sunday 24 June 2007 led by The Rt Rev Edwin Regan, Bishop of Wrexham (14.30 at St Winefride`s Church – see below for further details)

Please Note

The Annual National Pilgrimage in 2007 will take place on Sunday 24th June and will be led by the Rt Revd Edwin Regan, Lord Bishop of Wrexham.

14:30: Procession from St Winefride's church to the Well
15:00: Celebration of Mass in the Well Gardens, followed by Veneration of St Winefride's Relic in the Well Crypt.

There is ample parking available in the town centre, within 2 minutes of St Winefride's church.

Light refreshments will be available in the parish centre at a modest charge between 10.30 and 17.30 hours.

A free park and ride service between the town and the Well will be available between 13.00 and 14.30 hours. The pick up points will be at the lay-bys adjacent to the car parks on Ffordd St Gregoire, at the St Winefride's parish centre in Whitford Street and at St Winefride's Well.

The shuttle buses will be available again immediately after Mass and Veneration of the Relic (16.00 - 17.30 hours), leaving from the Well gates. The pick up points will be signed. Parking at the Well itself and on the Well hill is restricted and with the exception of disabled people or people with a mobility impairment, all pilgrims should use the town centre car parks.
